From 1996 until 1998, she worked as an Executive Director for Research and Analysis for the USAID/Indiana University Parliamentary Development Project (PDP) in Kyiv, Ukraine. During her studies at Indiana University (1994-1998), United States, she worked as a senior research fellow for PDP, completing various legislative analyses. She also worked as a summer associate (1995) at the office of Senator W. Roth from the United States Senate. From 1993 to 1994 she was an executive assistant to the Council of Advisors to the parliament of Ukraine. Mrs Svyetova holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the Kyiv University of Foreign Languages, Ukraine and an M.A. in Public Administration from Indiana University, USA. She published numerous articles for the publication "Visnyk" in Ukraine and has published a parliamentary handbook "Practice of parliamentarism" in 1998. Mrs Svyetova's mother tongue is Russian; she is fluent in Ukrainian, English, French, Dutch and has a basic knowledge of Spanish. She is married and has two children. Her hobbies include painting, travelling and photographing. |
