NATO parliamentarians will gather in Rome on 4-5 July for a seminar organised in cooperation with the Italian Parliament on the theme “The Mediterranean at the Crossroads: Challenges, Policy Initiatives and the Limits of Transformation”. Some 70 delegates, including members of parliament from NATO countries and Mediterranean partners, government and international organisations officials, academics and experts from the private sector, will be meeting in the Italian Chamber of Deputies to debate issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian peace process; energy security and interdependence in the Mediterranean; security in the Sahel region; and the “Union for the Mediterranean” project. |

Italian Deputy Defence Minister Giuseppe Cossiga will open the seminar on behalf on the Italian government, followed by a keynote address by Ambassador Senén Florensa Discussions on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process will be stimulated by the interventions of Oded Eran, Director of the Tel Aviv Institute for National Security Studies, and Leila Shahid, General Delegate of Ambassador Dell L.
