26 June 2009 - The 71st NATO PA Rose Roth Seminar on Regional Challenges in Central Asia, opens today in Astana, Kazakhstan

This seminar, hosted by the Kazakh parliament, will bring together over 60 parliamentarians coming from NATO Member, associate and partner countries (including Afghanistan and Pakistan) as well as some 70 non parliamentary participants from the government, other international organizations, and civil society (academics, businessmen, journalists…) to debate on regional issues and challenges in Central Asia.

This one-day meeting will provide the parliamentarians with an opportunity to hear high level local and international experts on three specific challenges faced by the region faces nowadays and for the future: the Global economy and its impact on the region, Civil Society and environmental issues.
