The Parliament of the Republic of Poland will host the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 56th Annual Session from Friday 12 November to Tuesday 16 November 2010. The Session will bring together in Warsaw some 340 parliamentarians from the 28 NATO member countries from North America and Europe as well as delegates from partner countries and observers to discuss common international security concerns, adopt the committee reports discussed during the Spring Session in Riga and issue recommendations.

GENERAL

The Parliament of the Republic of Poland will host the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 56th Annual Session from Friday 12 November to Tuesday 16 November 2010. The Session will bring together in Warsaw some 340 parliamentarians from the 28 NATO member countries from North America and Europe as well as delegates from partner countries and observers to discuss common international security concerns, adopt the committee reports discussed during the Spring Session in Riga and issue recommendations.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly President, Congressman John Tanner, the leader of the Polish Delegation to the NATO PA, Jadwiga Zakrzewska and the NATO PA Secretary General, David Hobbs will welcome media representatives and answer questions during a press briefing on Friday 12 November at 11:00.

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November will be devoted to the meetings of NATO PA’s five Committees: Political, Defence and Security, Science and Technology, Civil Dimension of Security and Economics and Security. Each Committee will discuss Reports on a broad range of security and defence topics and will be addressed by prestigious speakers from government, academia, NGO’s and NATO.

The Plenary session on Tuesday 16 November will be addressed by NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s President, Congressman John Tanner, the Speaker of the Sejm, Grzegorz Schetyna and other senior officials.

All these meetings are open to the press.

The committee meetings and the Plenary Session will be held on Saturday 13, Sunday 14 and Tuesday 16 November 2010 in the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland. Only registered press will be able to access the session venue. The principles of persons’ presence in buildings and within areas can be viewed in the excerpt from the Ordinance of the Speaker of the Sejm.

PRESS BRIEFING

Congressman John Tanner, NATO Parliamentary Assembly President, Jadwiga Zakrzewska, the Head of the Polish Delegation to the NATO PA, and David Hobbs, NATO PA Secretary General will give a press briefing on Friday 12 November at 11:00 in Press Room 101, First level, Sejm.
