Dr Karl A. Lamers, the CDU/CSU Heidelberg Deputy and member of the German Bundestag Foreign Relations Committee, was today unanimously elected Head of the Conservative, Christian-Democrat Political Group of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA). |

Dr Lamers, 54, who is Deputy Head of the 16 strong Bundestag Delegation to the 5 day NATO PA Spring meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from May 27 to 31, and who has been a member of the NATO PA since 1997, said "I am very happy… it's a great honour. This is an important institution". Pierre Lellouche, (UMP, Paris), President of the NATO PA, expressed his delight at the appointment, commenting that Lamers as an enthusiastic, loyal and active member of the Political Committee of the NATO PA thoroughly merits this recognition. "I am delighted with his election. He is an extremely experienced parliamentarian and I'm looking forward to working closely with him" said Monsieur Lellouche. |
