Paul Cook has been the Director of the Economics and Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly since January 1997 and for many years was also the Director of the Research Assistant Programme. Since 2011, he has also served as the Assembly’s Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group. Dr. Cook has a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University (SAIS). He authored the biography of the Italian intellectual, resistance leader and post-war statesman Ugo La Malfa, which was published by Il Mulino in 1999. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Rome from 1993 – 1994 and earned a Master of Arts degree in European Studies and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), Washington,D.C. and Bologna, Italy. He has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. In his spare time, Dr. Cook is coaching both the Belgium national lacrosse team as well as the International School of Brussels. He is also playing a Brussels-based Finnish ice hockey team competing in the Belgium hockey leagues. |
