14 January 2010 - NATO Parliamentary Assembly Participates in Election Observation Mission in Ukraine

At the invitation of Volodymyr Lytvyn, Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is sending a delegation of 27 parliamentarians to observe the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine. The NATO PA previously participated in elections observation missions in Ukraine in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly election observation delegation is fully integrated within the framework of the International Election Observation Mission, consisting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.

The members of the delegation will meet with presidential candidates and the Ukrainian Central Election Commission on 15 January and then travel to various locations around the country to observe the election on 17 January.
