On 5 April 2009, NATO PA president, John Tanner (US) welcomed Albania and Croatia as members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly at the Assembly's Standing Committee meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. Following the accession to NATO by Albania and Croatia on 1 April, the two countries became members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly with full voting rights. Mr Tanner recognized the progress the two countries have made in reaching NATO standards and thanked them for their contributions to NATO operations. |
