The Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group (GSM) will visit Israel and the Palestinian Territories from April 25-30. The purpose of the visit is to learn more about the critical issues facing the region including the state of the peace process, NATO relations with Israel and the regional security situation as seen by all parties. |

To learn as much as possible, the GSM delegation will meet with a wide range of Palestinian and Israeli officials as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations. The NATO PA and the GSM are independent of NATO and its meetings do not necessarily reflect NATO policy or those of the national governments of the member states. The purpose of the GSM is to provide a framework for parliamentary cooperation and dialogue in the Mediterranean region. It brings together members of parliament from NATO member countries as well as members of parliament from non-member countries in the Mediterranean region, some of which have relationships with NATO. The overarching goal of the GSM is to promote stability and cooperation in the region and support the enhancement of regional security and development.
