Recognizing that the participation of women is vital for the sustainability of peace, the Assembly’s Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security conducted a survey of national implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) and NATO PA Resolution 381 (2010) (link: http://www.nato-pa.int/Default.asp?SHORTCUT=2249) on Women, Peace and Security. Drawing on the recognition that in conflict areas, women are essential drivers of reconciliation, stability and economic growth, the overarching objective of these resolutions is to make women equal partners in conflict prevention and resolution, and post-conflict stabilization, and mainstream a gender perspective in peacekeeping missions and stabilization operations.

The document containing responses submitted by Parliaments and Ministries of Defence of 24 NATO member states should serve as a useful tool to learn about each other’s national action plans, to compare them and to exchange best ideas.
