The NATO Parliamentary Assembly organises for the first time a seminar in Chisinau, Moldova, October 19-21. Some 50 participants, including legislators from NATO and partner countries, will gather in the Moldovan capital for the 64th Rose-Roth seminar, jointly organised by the NATO PA and the Parliament of Moldova, under the theme: "Moldova and the Euro-Atlantic Institutions: Bridging the Gap".

Parliamentarians will discuss the situation in the country, focusing in particular on the unresolved conflict in Transdnistria, with contributions by keynote speaker Catherine Durandin of the Institut des Relations Internationales et Stratégiques in Paris, Adriaan Jacobovits De Szeged, EU Special Representative to Moldova, and Louis O'Neill, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

Moldovan cabinet members will contribute to the debates among legislators. Andrei Stratan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova will discuss Moldova's foreign policy and its regional context with speakers from Romania and Ukraine. While Valeriu Plesca, Moldova's Defence Minister, will debate his country's defence reform efforts with NATO officials and other experts.

Discussions will also focus on the role of the European Union in Moldova and include a talk by Nicholas Whyte, Europe Program Director of the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG).
