The Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council (UNIC) met in Kyiv , Ukraine on 12 March to discuss Ukraine's progress toward Euro-Atlantic integration as well as NATO and Ukrainian relations with Russia .

Co-chaired by Mykola Tomenko (Ukraine) and NATO PA Vice-President Assen Agov (Bulgaria) the Council met with, among others, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Khandogiy and Vadym Tryukhan, Director of the Coordination Bureau of Euro-Atlantic Integration in the Cabinet of Ministers. Ukrainian members of the UNIC drew attention to their country's participation in all NATO missions and stressed that Ukraine  could not be kept waiting indefinitely for an offer of a Membership Action Plan, the next step on the road to NATO membership.   The UNIC also discussed public support in Ukraine for NATO membership, noting that only roughly one-third of the population is in favour of joining the  Alliance
