I express my highest esteem to the American authorities for their successful operation against Osama bin Laden. Through their hideous ideology and criminal actions, Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and its affiliates, have caused the death of thousands of innocent people across the world.
In this moment, we are reminded of the dreadful images of the terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 11 September 2001. I hope that Bin Laden’s death relieves the pain that this day has inflicted on the United States of America and its citizens and brings comfort to those who lost their loved ones in the many dreadful operations of Al Qaeda.

The successful operation against Osama bin Laden is a major achievement in our common struggle against international terrorism. I express my gratitude to the US army and to the national security team. Thanks to their courageous commitment, this day marks the victory of freedom and democracy.

But terrorism is not alleviated yet. Side by side, we will defend our common values against any terrorist attempts in the future. Terrorists, wherever they operate, need to know that our nations and people stand together united in solidarity and a common effort to prevent such horror from ever occurring again. It is through similar determination, resolve and courage that led to yesterday’s operation against bin Laden that we can defeat the scourge of international terrorism.
