Dr Karl A. Lamers, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, issued the following statement today:
“I strongly condemn the car bombing attack in Oslo and the shooting on the island of Utoya.

On behalf of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Norwegian authorities and the Norwegian people. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the families of those who have lost their lives, as well as with all the victims of these cowardly and atrocious attacks. I am sure that all members of the NATO PA are equally shocked and outraged by this violence, and share my profound sadness at the loss of so many young lives.

Our governments and societies stand united against all forms of terrorism."
