Members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will gather in Dubrovnik, Croatia, for their 59th Rose-Roth seminar, on 12-14 March. The situation in South-East Europe will be discussed by more than 150 participants, including some 60 members of parliament from most NATO countries and partners, representatives from governments, the civil society and academia. |

General attention is likely to focus on Croatia's progress towards EU and NATO membership. Only one important stumbling block persists on Croatia's road towards Euro-Atlantic integration: full co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. Indicted General Ante Gotovina is still at large and the EU clearly stated that his case needs to be solved by 17 March 2005, the fixed date for the beginning of accession negotiations. Hans Holhuis, Registrar of the ICTY, will be speaking in Dubrovnik. Progress and challenges in the whole region will be analysed, notably the situation in Kosovo, following the recent indictment of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj by the Hague Tribunal; relations with Serbia and Montenegro; and the EU military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. General David Leakey, Commander of the EU force Althea in Sarajevo, will be briefing participants about its mission and the situation in BiH. |
