On December 9-10, 100 parliamentarians from 23 NATO Member countries and 2 non-NATO EU countries, and North Macedonia which is in the final stages of accession to NATO, gathered in Washington for the 19th annual Washington Parliamentary Forum. The meeting was hosted by the National Defense University and co-sponsored by the Atlantic Council. NATO PA Vice President Richard Benyon (UK) greeted the delegations and introduced Vice Admiral Roegge, the President of the National Defense University and Damon Wilson, the Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council, each of whom discussed the work of the respective institutions. Richard Benyon then outlined the broad themes of the discussions to come and reminded members that the meeting was to be held under the Chatham House Rule.
