Biography

Maria Domenica Castellone has been a member of the Senate of the Republic since 2018, representing the 5 Star Movement. She is a member of the Budget Committee. Since 19 October 2022, she has served as Vice President of the Senate. Since 2023, she has been a member of the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and is a member of the Science and Technology Committee. Sen. Castellone was born on 3 April 1975 in Villaricca (NA). She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Naples Federico II, which awarded her a PhD in Oncology and Molecular Endocrinology. She worked as Visiting Scientist from 2002 to 2005 at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Washington DC. Since 2006, she has been working as a National Research Council researcher at the Institute of Endocrinology and Experimental Oncology (IEOS) in Naples.
