Ms. Mimi Kodheli has been a member of the Albanian Parliament since 2009. She has been the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Albanian Parliament and the Head of the Albanian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for five years now. Mimi Kodheli was elected as Vice-President of the NATO PA in November 2020. Ms. Kodheli entered politics in 2002. In 2002 she was appointed Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality and in 2005 she became the Prefect of the Tirana Region. From 2009 to 2013 she held the position of Deputy Chairperson of the Economy and Finance Committee. In 2013 she became Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania until 2017. Ms. Kodheli holds a PhD in Economic Sciences from the University of Verona, Italy, in cooperation with the University of Tirana. She holds a MBA from Lincoln University, Nebraska, USA, in cooperation with the University of Tirana. She graduated from the University of Tirana, Economics Faculty in 1986. Since 2007 she has been a member of the Headship of the Socialist Party.
