Mimi Kodheli has been member of the Albanian Parliament since 2009. From September 2017 until now she has been the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament and Head of the Albanian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Mimi Kodheli was elected as Vice-President of the NATO PA in November 2020.
Mrs. Mimi Kodheli entered politics in 2002. In 2002 she was appointed Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality and in 2005 she became the Prefect of Tirana.
Since 2007 she has been a member of the Headship of the Socialist Party. In 2009 she entered the Parliament, holding the position of Deputy Chairperson of the Economy and Finance Committee until 2013.
From 2013 to 2017 she was the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania.
Mrs. Kodheli holds a Doctorate (2007) in Economic Science from the University of Verona, Italy, in cooperation with the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty. She holds a Master’s degree (2000) in Public Administration from the Lincoln University, Nebraska, USA, in cooperation with University of Tirana and graduated from the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty, in Finance in 1986.
She has studied in various fields such as, international markets, bond and assets, work and investment markets, trainings on small and medium enterprises and banking management. She has participated in a U.S. State Department programme, “Women in Politics”, and in the “National Security Policy” of the European Security Centre, George C. Marshall in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
