Biography

Sven Koopmans (1973) has been a member of the parliament for the Liberal Party (VVD) in the Netherlands since 23 march 2017. He is an experienced diplomat and lawyer and has worked for the United Nations and the European Union on i.a. peace negotiations in Dafur, Kosovo, Mali and Syria. He holds a doctorate in international law from the University of Oxford and has worked as a practising lawyer at Clifford Chance in Amsterdam. Mr. Koopmans is the spokesperson on international relations and head of the Dutch delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Mr Koopmans is the author of "Diplomatic dispute settlement: the use of inter-state conciliation" (2008) and "Negotiating Peace: A Guide to the Practice, Politics, and Law of International Mediation" (2018)
