Biography

Born in 1964 in Cluj-Napoca, László Attila is a member of the Senate since 2012, representing the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania. In 2020 at the general elections, he won his third mandate. His work as a politician is based on his past as a doctor and pediatrician in the 1990’s: due to his studies and work experience, he was elected as member of the Public Health Committee in the Parliament. From 2016 to 2020 he was the chairman of the Health Committee in the Senate of Romania and member of the Committee on Defense, Public Order and National Security. Before national politics, he was an active politician in his native city of Cluj: elected local councilor from 2004 to 2008, deputy mayor from 2008 to 2012, representing the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania. For his third mandate in the Parliament, László Attila plans to continue his work in the Public Health Committee, now as Secretary of the Committee in the Senate. Besides, he became member of the Committee on Human Rights, Equal Opportunities, Cults and Minorities in December 2020.
