Biography

Mr. Sorin-Dan Moldovan has been serving as member of the Romanian Parliament elected in Cluj County since 2016. Currently, he holds the position of Chairman of the IT&C Committee and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Defense, Public Order, and National Security both in the Chamber of Deputies. He is also member in the Joint Parliamentary Committee in the field of national security. Additionally, since 2020 he is member of the Romanian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. In these capacities, he actively contributes to parliamentary diplomacy, particularly in strengthening the Strategic Partnership between the United States and Romania. Mr. Moldovan completed the “Senior Executive Seminar” at George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in May 2024. He is also an ASPEN fellow, having completed the “Public Service Leadership Program” in January 2024. In 2023 he graduated the “Senior Executives in National and International Security” program at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and also successfully completed the International Visitor Leadership Program on Defense and Security at the U.S. Department of State, focusing on “U.S. – European Security Challenges”. In November 2022, Mr. Moldovan completed the Generals, Flag Officers, and Ambassadors Course at the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy. His educational background includes a BA from the School of European Economic Integration Studies at the Romanian-American University and a Master’s degree from the National School of Political and Administrative Studies, Department of International Relations. These were followed by postgraduate courses at the National Defense College within the “Carol I” National Defense University in Bucharest and an advanced program in International Relations at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Moldovan commenced his career in the public sector in 2009, initially serving as advisor and later as director of the International Relations Department, Ministry of Youth and Sports. In November 2010, he was appointed by decision of the Prime Minister as Vice President/Under Secretary of State at the National Authority for Sports and Youth within the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth, and Sports. Starting February 2012, Mr. Moldovan worked at the European Parliament as a trainee for a year.
