She graduated from Marmara University Department of Political Sciences and International Relations. She has started working for the Prime Ministery in 1995. She has undertaken assigments abroad and in Türkiye. She has specialized in fields of foreign policies and international relations. In 2020, she has retired from her position in the Presidency. Süreyya Öneş Derici was elected as member of the parliament from Muğla province of Turkey in 2023 General Elections. She has worked as a member of Foreign Affairs Commitee of Turkish Grand National Assembly and currently is member of Security and Intelligence Commitee. She is also a member of NATO Parliamentary assembly. She speaks fluent English, has intermadiate Italian, Bulgarian, Russian and German.
