Biography

Andrea Giorgio Orsini was born on 23 September 1959. He began his political career with the Italian Liberal Party and was the coordinator of its National Executive Committee (1987-1992). He then joined the Forza Italia party, where he became the national Head of the Electoral Office (1998-2004), the Chair of the National Guarantee Commission and a member of the Bureau. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2001 for Forza Italia first and for Il Popolo della Libertà (The People of Freedom) party afterwards. In 2018 he was re-elected with Forza Italia. He currently sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee and on the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Giulio Regeni’s death. He is a member of the Israel-Italy Parliamentary Cooperation Group. He is also a member of the Italian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, where he sits on the Defence and Security Committee. He is Vice Chair of the SubCommittee on Transatlantic Defence and Security Cooperation.
