Biography

Alberto Pagani has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since 2013 for the Democratic Party (PD). In the previous Parliament he served as a member of the Transport and Telecommunications Committee; he is currently a member of the Defence Committee, where he holds the position of PD group leader. He has been a member of the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly since June 2021: here he sits on the Political Committee and the Subcommittee on Transatlantic Relations, of which he is Deputy Chairperson. He has held positions both as a public official and as a political officer. He was Secretary of the Democrats of the Left (DS) Party at Alfonsine and Lugo, where he was also a municipal councillor. In Lugo he served as President of the municipal council (2004-2009). He was provincial coordinator of the DS Secretariat in Ravenna. Elected as acting provincial coordinator of the Democratic Party in November 2007 and reconfirmed in February 2008, in May 2010 he was re-elected provincial secretary of the Ravenna PD. A graduate in Political Science from the University of Bologna, he has attended advanced courses in the field of defence: 70th IASD course at the Centre for Advanced Defence Studies, 2nd level Master in Global Strategy and Security at the Interdepartmental University School for Strategic Sciences of the University of Turin, advanced course in Intelligence and National Security at the University of Florence.
