Matteo Richetti was formerly a Regional Councillor in Emilia-Romagna where he also served as President of the Legislative Assembly. He has been a member of the Italian Parliament since 2013, first in the Chamber of Deputies (2013-2018), then in the Senate (2018-2022) before returning to the Chamber of Deputies (since 2022 to date). First elected as a member of the Democratic Party, of which he was Spokesperson, and serving since 2020 as a Member of the Azione party, he is now the Chair of the Azione-Popolari europeisti riformatori–Renew Europe Parliamentary Group. He is also a member of the Chamber’s Defence Committee, the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly since 2023, and the NATO PA Democracy and Security Committee. Matteo Richetti was born in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, on 3 August 1974.
