Biography

Giulio Tremonti has been a member of the Italian Parliament since 1994; he is currently a member of the Chamber of Deputies and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He has formerly served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of the Economy and Finance, and Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies. He has been a member of the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly since 2023, where he sits on the Democracy and Security Committee. He has published a number of books. He has delivered lectures and taken part in debates: the Oxford Union Society, and the Cambridge Union Society. He publishes his articles in the Corriere della Sera. Giulio Tremonti was born on 18 August 1947 in Sondrio. He graduated in Law, and has been a Court of Cassation lawyer and university professor since 1974; he has lectured in the Faculties of Law at the Universities of Macerata, Parma and Pavia. He was a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Comparative Law of Oxford University. He is the President of Aspen Institute Italia.
