Andrzej Duda was born on May 16, 1972 in Cracow. In 1991, he enrolled in the studies at the Department of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University. In February 1997, Mr. Duda defended his Master’s Thesis and started working as an academic teacher and scholar at the Chair of Administrative Proceedings, and as of 2001, the Chair of Administrative Law at the Jagiellonian University. In January 2005, following the defense of the dissertation entitled “The Legal Interest in the Polish Administrative Law”, he obtained a PhD in law. On January 16, 2008, President Lech Kaczyński appointed Andrzej Duda Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President. In 2010, he won a seat in the City Council of Cracow, also becoming chairman of the Club of Law and Justice City Councillors. Following parliamentary elections of October 2011, Mr. Duda was elected Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm). In the Sejm, he served as Deputy Chair of the Committee for Constitutional Liability. On May 25, 2014, he was elected Member of the European Parliament. On August 6, 2015, Andrzej Duda was sworn in before the National Assembly as the President of the Republic of Poland.
