Sanj Srikanthan is the International Rescue Committee’s Acting SVP Europe and Executive Director. He leads IRC’s work in Europe to drive policy and practice change around the global refugee crisis, raise the profile of key issues working closely with partners, and increase the effectiveness of humanitarian financing - as well as ensuring IRC has the funding it needs to deliver evidence based programs in the field.
Sanj joined IRC in June 2010 and has worked in over 8 countries in response to both natural disasters, like the Haiti earthquake and Ebola outbreak, as well as complex conflict related emergencies in northern Syria and South Sudan. As the former Emergency Field Director, he has been at the forefront of some of the most challenging responses that IRC has mounted, and supports initiatives to reform humanitarian response, in order to improve impact and effectiveness of the aid sector. Sanj has a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University and a Master of Public Affairs from Sciences Po in Paris, focusing on post-conflict assistance.
