What we do

1.    Foster Transatlantic Parliamentary Dialogue and Diplomacy
The NATO PA strengthens transatlantic security and solidarity by bringing together parliamentarians from across the Alliance to promote mutual understanding, democratic oversight, and trust-building through dialogue.
2.    Connect NATO and National Parliaments
As a vital link between NATO and the citizens it serves, the Assembly ensures that national parliaments are informed and engaged on defence and security policies, reinforcing democratic accountability.
3.    Shape NATO Policies and Promote Transparency → committee work
Through its resolutions and reports, the NATO PA helps shape NATO’s response to threats and challenges and advocates for necessary resources and capabilities for defence, amplifying parliamentary voices within the Alliance. Its work enhances public knowledge and understanding of NATO and NATO policies.
4.    Further Democracy
The Assembly stands for and furthers NATO’s foundational values – democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law – and NATO’s role in defending these values.   
5.    Build Partnerships to Address Common Security Challenges
The NATO PA works with parliaments outside the Euro-Atlantic area to address common challenges, support democratic reform, foster resilience and assist those partners aspiring to become NATO members.
