Biography

Mrs Ramona Ioana Bruynseels was elected a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies in December 2024 serving her home city of Cluj-Napoca, in Transylvania. She is Secretary of the Defense Committee in the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament and also sits on the Budget Committee. Politically, she is President of the Women Organization in the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR). She graduated Law in 2002 as First in Class. After a master degree in law, in 2005 she was the youngest graduate of the course held by the Romanian National Defense College on the Management of National Security. In 2015 she graduated the MC /MPA Edward S Mason program, at the John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. In Harvard, she’s been awarded both the Littauer and Vernon special prizes for academic distinction and positive impact on the program’s community. After a successful career in Finance and the periods of time spent in the USA and South Africa, Mrs Bruynseels held non-political roles in the Romanian Government, respectively State Secretary and State Counsellor in the office of the prime minister. Her main responsibilities were, successively, the relationship with the USA, the relationship with the business environment, competitiveness and head of the strategy and public policies department in the Government of Romania. In the not-for-profit sector, she’s been the executive director of RePatriot Project and a founding member of both Re:Start Romania NGO and POT Association. She was one of the first female candidates to be Romanian President in the 2019 elections.
