Biography

Marko Mihkelson (55) is the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament. First elected in 2003, he is currently serving his sixth mandate. Over the years, he has chaired the Foreign Affairs, EU Affairs, and National Defense Committees. Before his parliamentary career, Mihkelson was the Director of the Baltic Centre for Russian Studies (2000–2003) and Editor-in-Chief of Postimees (1997–2000), where he also worked as a correspondent in Moscow (1994–1997). He holds an MA in History from the University of Tartu. Mihkelson chairs the Council of Foreign Relations of Estonia and is a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations and ICDS. He is the author of Russia: In Dusk and Dawn (2010) and The Disruptive Era (2018).
