Viviane Teitelbaum has been a member of the Belgian Senate since July 2024. She is currently President of the Network of Women Parliamentarians of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie and Vice-President of the Belgian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
As member of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region from 2004 to 2024, she served on the Equality and Women’s Rights, Social Affairs/Health and Environment committees.
During her tenure as councilwoman of Ixelles from 2012 to 2018, she played a key part in implementing the first gender-sensitive budget at a municipal level in Belgium.
A committed and well-known feminist, she is the European President of the International Women’s Council and the co-founder of the Feminist Observatory on Violence against Women.
She has published 10 books and contributed to various collective works.
After completing her undergraduate degree in journalism and social communication at the Université libre de Bruxelles, she obtained a master’s degree from the University of Southern California in international relations. Ms Teitelbaum is fluent in French, English and Dutch.
