David Hobbs to present the Foreign Affairs Award at the EU Parliament Magazine’s annual MEP Awards 2018

NATO PA Secretary General David Hobbs has been invited to present the Foreign Affairs Award at the EU Parliament Magazine’s Annual MEP Awards 2018 on Wednesday 21 March.

The award ceremony will take place in the Concert Noble, Brussels. 
At 19:31, Mr Hobbs will open the envelop to announce the winner and present him with the trophy as he arrives on stage. The shortlisted candidates are Alyn Smith MEP, Urmas Paet MEP and  Petras Auštrevičius MEP.

Other presenters include Violeta Bulc, European Commisioner for Transport; Dimitris Avramopoulos, European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship; Markku Markkula, First Vice-President of the European Committee of the Regions; and Natalia Uzunova, Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union.

The MEP Awards will be attended by representatives of the wider community and will provide an opportunity to reflect on and commend the efforts of MEPs across a multitude of policy areas.

The ceremony is hosted by Eva Kaili MEP, the Head of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the NATO PA.

The Parliament Magazine’s MEP awards were established to recognise deputies who have contributed significantly to the legislative, supervisory or budgetary role of the European Parliament through their parliamentary activities.  In choosing the recipients of the MEP awards, regard is given to the nominee’s achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contribution to the European Project and their national constituencies.
