14 March 2016

Washington / Brussels – 14 March 2016 - President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Hon. Michael R. Turner (United States) issued the following statement following yesterday’s deadly terrorist attack in Ankara, Turkey:

Ankara was the target of another heinous attack yesterday. On behalf of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I strongly condemn this outrageous and cowardly act targeted at innocent civilians. As I have stated before and conveyed again recently to the Head of the Turkish delegation to the NATO PA, all members of our Assembly stand united in their condemnation of terrorism in all its manifestations.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of yesterday’s attack, their relatives and friends. The Turkish people have many times before demonstrated their resilience in the face of terrorism, and I know they will continue to do so. I would like to extend to them once again our strong solidarity and deepest sympathy.
