Bucharest, 18 April 2018 - The President of the NATO PA has been invited to address the opening session of the Parliamentary Summit of the Bucharest Format (B9),  taking place in Bucharest on 18 April 2018.

At the initiative of the Romanian and Polish Presidents, a platform of consultations of the NATO member countries from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea was created on the occasion of the first Summit of the Heads of State of the B9 countries (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia).

The first Summit was organised in Bucharest in 2015. Then a pillar of consultations for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs was created.

The parliamentary pillar of the Bucharest Format aims to facilitate regional convergence of positions in shaping EU’s and NATO’s responses to the external threats, as well as to address, by employing traditional means of  parliamentary diplomacy, major security issues affecting the area between the Baltic and the Black Sea.
