Marek MENKISZAK is the Head of the Russian Department at the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), state think tank based in Warsaw, Poland. He used to be faculty member of the Institute of International Relations, University of Warsaw between 1995 and 2003. He was senior research fellow in OSW’s Russian Department between 2000 and 2006. He has been Head of OSW’s Russian Department since 2006. While in OSW he used to be a manager for OSW project “NATO’s new role in the NIS area” (2003-2005); co-manager for OSW and CSM research project “Russian-German relations 1998-2005” (2005-2006); manager for OSW Project “Russia’s foreign economic activity” (2007-2010). He used to be a member of the EU – Russia Task Force at the EU Institute for Security Studies, Paris between 2008 and 2009 as well as the visiting researcher at the Finnish Institute for International Affairs (FIIA) in Helsinki in 2013 and the OSW Fellow at the Transatlantic Academy at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washington DC in 2015. He has been member of the authors staff of "Rocznik Strategiczny" ("Strategic Yearbook") since 1995. His research area covers Russia’s domestic, foreign and security policy; NIS area problems, European security.
