Biographie

MG Brötz is a career Army Intelligence Officer with assignments in United Nations and NATO missions; in Brigade, Division, Federal Intelligence Service and Ministry of Defence functions.

His commands include the 212th Armored Infantry Battalion as well as being Commander of the Train Advice Assist Command North in Resolute Support, Afghanistan prior to his current assignment. While in battalion command, he deployed and commanded the Over The Horizon Forces (ORF) Battalion in support of the KFOR mission in Kosovo.

His senior Intelligence staff assignments include Ministry of Defence, Intelligence Plans & Policy, Bonn; Ministry of Defence, Assistant Chief of Branch Office of State Secretary, Bonn/Berlin; Chief of Staff G2, 1st Armored Division, Hannover; Chief of Branch -DEU Federal Intelligence Service, Berlin; Chief of Branch/Head Early Warning and Risk and Threat Assessment-Ministry of Defence, Berlin. His most recent assignment was Director of Intelligence and Chief of Intelligence Division, Ministry of Defence, Berlin before he deployed to Afghanistan.

His awards and decorations include the Gold Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr, as well as Bundeswehr and NATO Medals for serving in IFOR, SFOR, KFOR and Resolute Support Mission. Austria awarded him with the Cross of Honour for outstanding military cooperation. MG Brötz has also earned the USA Legion of Merit as Commanding Officer Train Advice and Assist Command North in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

MG Brötzis married to Malgorzata. They have two school-age children, Emma Antonia and Jakob Alexander.
