Susana Peralta is an Associate Professor with habilitation at Nova School of Business and Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium. She teaches or has taught several courses at Nova SBE since 2004 in the field of public policy, the economics of poverty and microeconomics. She served as the academic director of the MSc in Economics, the Research Master in Economics, and the PhD in Economics. She is an expert in public economics, and her research is published in international journals such as the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, The Economic Journal and Public Choice. She has obtained funding from FCT [the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology] as principal investigator or co principal investigator in several past and current projects. Susana Peralta is also the coordinator of the Portugal, Balanço Social [Portugal, Social Balance] project, a joint initiative of La Caixa Foundation and Nova SBE. She authored the book Portugal e a Crise do Século: o Terramoto da Desigualdade, published in 2021 by Objetiva. Susana Peralta writes a weekly op-ed in the Público newspaper, and she is a commentator on RTP.
Susana Peralta lives in Lisbon; she is married and has two daughters and a son.
